Leiya Danse

Tahitian dance

The Tahitian dance consists of different dances. The most common is called the tamure. The man performs a thigh beat movement, and the woman’s very fast hips rolls. Each movement of the arms and hands is symbolic.

The musical accompaniment is a set of percussion named to’ere. The costumes and crowns are made of plant material: shells, plant fibers, flowers.
